Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask after their first random life.
What is a random life simulator?
A game that gives you one random human life, start to finish. Random Life weights every draw with real data, so the life you get is as likely as it is in the real world: you are 50 times more likely to be born in India than in France.
Is the birthplace really weighted by real data?
Yes. Countries are weighted by annual births from the UN World Population Prospects 2024 (about 132 million a year). School, work, marriage, children and lifespan are rolled from World Bank, UNESCO, ILO and WHO rates for that country.
How is this different from BitLife?
BitLife is a long sandbox where you make hundreds of choices in a made-up world. Random Life is a two-minute story with two choices, built on real statistics, ending in a card you can share. See the full comparison on our BitLife page.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Free, no sign-up, works on any phone. An optional $2.99 keepsake pass adds an HD certificate, a timeline image, three hidden chapters and a place on the visitor wall.
What are the odds of being born in the US?
About 1 in 37. Roughly 3.6 million of the world's 132 million babies each year are born in the United States — 2.7% of births.
Why do I keep getting born in India or Nigeria?
Because that is where babies are born. India has about 23 million births a year (17.6%) and Nigeria about 8 million (6%). A truly random human is far more likely to be born there than in Europe or North America, which together have fewer than 1 in 10 births.
What are the odds of being born in a rich country?
About 1 in 12. Only 8% of the world's births happen in high-income countries (World Bank classification). 46% are in lower-middle-income countries such as India, Nigeria, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
What is the most likely life?
A boy or girl born in a lower-middle-income country in South Asia or Africa, who finishes primary school, starts working before 20, marries in their early twenties, has children and lives into their late sixties or seventies.
Can I choose anything?
Two moments per life ask you to choose — for example stay or leave for the city, study or start working. Choices change your story; they don't change where you were born. That's the point.
What is today's life?
Every day at 00:00 UTC there is one life that everyone on Earth gets. Play it, compare with friends and keep your streak going.
Can I share my life?
Yes. The ending card can be shared as a 9:16 story image, a square image or a link that replays exactly the same life.
Does it store my data?
No account and no personal data. Your streak lives in your browser. We count anonymous events (start, finish, share) to improve the game.
